"Shifting the Center" is incredibly insightful to the various social constructions that are present in our society, and how we can be more aware of them. The authors bring new and inspiring perspectives that display family dynamics, how to navigate and understand them, and how to view families from a sociological lens. This book also has lots of great sources for research purposes.

This book is well-organized with clearly labeled headings, and consists of a series sociological studies and articles that consider different aspects of family dynamics. Almost every article has an introductory section explaining an overview of the topics discussed and the overall arguments that unfold.

I personally did not find anything negative worth noting about this textbook.
