Why does it matter?

As per the U.S. Code, it’s illegal to distribute counterfeit items. BooksRun follows and implements anti-counterfeit measures to keep the book market free from counterfeit items. We encourage our customers to do the same and help keep the market free from fake products.

1 reason

Compromised quality

Counterfeit books often use lower-quality materials, resulting in grainy visuals and hard-to-read text. Apart from having lower aesthetic value, these books are more prone to damage. Some of them may not even last through the semester.
2 reason

Impact on education

Every illegal sale causes the original authors and publishers to lose out on the money they deserve. They lose essential revenue and royalties, which can stop the creation and distribution of new educational content.
3 reason

Low educational value

Counterfeit books often lack crucial content, including access to supplementary online materials and accurate page numbering. This can lead to confusion and problems understanding the material.

How do we identify counterfeit textbooks?

At BooksRun, we take strict measures to verify book authenticity. Our commitment to legal compliance and quality standards protects your interests. We work together with publishers to verify suspicious books and prevent the spread of counterfeit copies. Here's how our counterfeit book detection works:

Step 1: Initial assessment

At BooksRun, we use various methods to identify fake books. We conduct a preliminary inspection to find potential counterfeit signs, such as low-quality paper, poor print quality, inconsistent illustrations, etc. We carefully inspect each item and compare them with the originals purchased directly from publishers. Check more examples of counterfeit copy signs by visiting On Counterfeit Textbooks.

Step 2: Detailed inspection by the publisher

Next, we collaborate closely with the book's publisher for a thorough book authenticity verification. We send a suspicious copy directly to the publisher for expert analysis. Their insight is crucial in determining the authenticity of the textbook. Check the list of Top-14 Counterfeit Textbooks.

Step 3: Authenticity confirmation

If the publisher verifies the book as authentic, we proceed with the original processing. Sellers are informed that the book has passed the inspection, and we process your transaction accordingly, ensuring that the payment is transferred.

Handling counterfeit cases

In cases where a book is identified as counterfeit, payment for it will not be issued according to our counterfeit policy and legal guidelines. Publishers may contact sellers to get more information about the copy and the details of its purchase. The entire process can take 3–5 weeks.
