The Gender Knot is an absolute must-read for anyone interested in understanding more about our patriarchal social order. Johnson deftly shows how people of all genders unconsciously help to prop it up while also experiencing different kinds of harms from the inequality it produces. While Johnson draws from the works of feminist giants – he seems to have been heavily influenced by Audre Lorde for instance – he adds a missing piece to the conversation that only someone raised to be a man can provide.
This was an excellent read to understand better the dilemma that we live with today that affects everyone. Patriarchy.
