About the Author
Alana J. Hermiston discovered Sociology in her first year of undergraduate studies at Trent University and graduated from Trent with an Honours B.A. She went on to earn her M.A. from Queen's University, and her Ph.D. from Carleton University. Alana has taught sociology courses at both the college and university level for many years. She is currently a professor in the Faculty of Justice Studies at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario.
Jon Witt was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He attended college and graduate school in the Chicago area and received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago. Jon has been teaching at Central College in Pella, Iowa, since 1993. Hi first book, The Big Picture: A Sociology Primer (McGraw-Hill), provides an accessible and interesting introduction to what it means to look at the world sociologically.
