Summary
Description
A stevedore on the San Francisco docks in the 1940s, Eric Hoffer wrote philosophical treatises in his spare time while living in the railroad yards. The True Believer - the first and most famous of his books - was made into a bestseller when President Eisenhower cited it during one of the earliest television press conferences.Completely relevant and essential for understanding the world today, The True Believer is a visionary, highly provocative look into the mind of the fanatic and a penetrating study of how an individual becomes one.

We would LOVE it if you could help us and other readers by reviewing the book

The book has been around since 1951, and I could hardly add to the vast body of reviews. I was first introduced to it by a fellow grad student in 1964, and the current situation in the US prompted me to reread it. The copy I purchased most recently was the third copy I have bought in the past year to give to friends. If you are baffled by the rise of MAGA, this is the book to read.
