Description

In Buenos Aires city, there still are old bars in which time seems to have stopped long ago. They are part of the houses belonging to the bars owners or managers, whose personalities impose particular atmospheres. In this interaction between private and public life, these bars are like living rooms in which owners and customers get together. There are TV sets always off, ever-humming fridges, bottles that will not be opened and dust that will not be cleaned away. Some of these bars are the kingdoms of salami sandwiches. At others, homemade food prepared by the owners and their families is served. Opening and closing times are free will. This book was born from an idea by Constanza Mirre when she got into a grocery store and bar and saw one of its owners breading veal cutlets on one of the few tables in the place and decided to record that magical atmosphere.
