Tall and Small, Antique Dutch Silver Miniatures

This publication is an introduction to antique Dutch silver miniatures, illustrated with superb photographs of a selection of wonderful miniatures which reveal the passion for silver miniatures in the Netherlands during the 17th and 18th centuries. More than 550 beautiful miniatures are presented in this book together with 28 full-sized silver objects on which some of them were modelled. Each chapter examines top quality works in this field, accompanied by explanations of occupations and objects that have passed into history and the way some of these wonderful things were used. The index on Makers' Marks has 107 makers'marks of which 49 makers were not previously known to have made miniatures. That makes this book of lasting value as a work of reference both for specialists and for anyone with an interest in miniatures and silver in general.
