Description

Power Up Korean Vocabulary is designed for beginning to intermediate level Korean learners who want to solidify their foundation of Korean by enlarging their vocabulary in order to have more confidence using Korean. This book is ideal for the following students: Students who are in a beginning-level Korean class. Students who are in an intermediate-level class, but are often still confused when using basic words. Students who are preparing for the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean). Students who have studied Korean for a while and want to solidify their foundational knowledge of Korean. This book is not a simple Korean-English glossary, but rather provides much richer essential information for understanding words along with their variations in collocations. This book presents 500 essential words, with an emphasis on those most commonly used in beginning-level textbooks and the TOPIK beginning-level vocabulary list. We grouped 20 random words in each unit, which learners can study at one time without too much effort. When vocabulary acquisition takes place, learners achieve multiple layers of lexical information that consists of the association between forms and meanings. Thus the most common meanings and usages of each word in this book s 25 lessons are accompanied by example sentences, grammatical information, cultural information, and related words as well as morphophonemic information, such as Chinese origin, pronunciation, and conjugation patterns. This book offers further helpful advice about the most common mistakes we have encountered in student work.
