Description

The book discusses the problems in investigations of the group of sites discovered in 1990s and called "the Zaozer'e-Uzmen' cultural circle". The latter represent two most distinct cultural and chronological groups of the second quarter of the last millennium. AD located in the West Dvina basin, and the Dnieper basin within the Smolensk region. The problem of ethnic attribution of the Kiev culture has risen more than once in archeological literature. The author of this book shares the opinion of the Slavic origin of the tribes that lived in this territory. The antiquities of the Zaozer'e-Uzmen are considered as a chain linking the early Slavic antiquities of the region with the archeological cultures of the northern Slavs. Profusely illustrated.
