Modality is interpreted in this book as an integral three-dimensional semantic space structured by the interaction of several parameters: "creativity/descriptivity", "reality/unreality/virtuality", and "possibility/necessity", each possessing its own system of linguistic expression. Specifics of modal forms' use is explained by various types of propositions that find their expression in language. Proposition is construed as a mode of propositional concept representation. The book minutely analyzes semantic, syntactic, and pragmatic aspects of interaction between modality and proposition. Includes bibliography.
