A Battle in Blood: The Vampire Inquisitor Series

A Battle in Blood finds Inquisitor Dru Nekkarn dealing with a crisis which began in A Warning in Blood. Hundreds of children are being turned by vampire zealots. This violation of vampire law causes chaos, allowing Slayers to stir up trouble. The Protectorate is on the brink of civil war as dangerous fanatics try to destroy the world order created by the Oldest Old vampires to keep human and vampire worlds at peace and apart. The extremists want a return to a barbaric time in which humans are farmed like animals to be fed upon by the undead. In this crumbling vampire landscape, Dru must destroy the vampires causing chaos and must help restore the government. Though Dru manages to make headway, his advances come with a price: some of his companions are lost, some will never be the same. In addition, Dru is confronted with a newly-created young vampire somehow connected to ancient forces. He could either help Dru or lead to the end of the vampire world. As Dru wages his war, he discovers this struggle may only presage challenges they will face after A Battle in Blood has been fought.
