The Guns of Shiloh: A Story of the Great Western Campaign

Though fighting for opposing sides, Dick Mason and his cousin, Harry Kenton, escape unscathed from the Battle of Bull Run. As the war in the west intensifies, Dick joins General Thomas' army in time to defeat the Confederacy at Mill Spring. Sent with important dispatches from General Buell, Dick finds himself trapped behind enemy lines, helpless to warn his comrades of a surprise attack. With sinking heart, he spends a sleepless night in the southern camp, while his fellow soldiers, a mere stone's throw away, lie oblivious to danger. How can he warn them?
