New Perspectives On Criseyde

Diverging from other studies of Chaucer's poem Troilus and Criseyde, the medieval literature specialists here focus on the main female character. Their goal is not to nail down an interpretation, but to discuss her from many different perspectives, particularly her much-vaunted ambiguity, in order to generate a more serious and wide spread study of her and a different view of the poem and the poet. Their themes are historical contexts, gender and power, postmodern prisms, and revisioning Criseyde. Quoted passages are in Middle English, sometimes with marginal glosses.
