Book details
Summary
Description
With more than 500 color illustrations and detailed accompanying essays, this is the first survey of the Crocker Art Museum 's collection to be undertaken in more than thirty years. In scale and scope, it is the most comprehensive collection catalogue the Crocker has ever produced and appropriately commemorates the Museum s 125th anniversary. The collection started with Margaret and Edwin Bryant Crocker's travel abroad in 1869, and has since grown beyond the original Crocker acquisitions of European and Californian art to span thousands of years and numerous nationalities, genres, and media. More recent collecting areas include Asian art, Oceanic and African art, international ceramics, American art, and Californian art post-1875.
