Old Mormon Palmyra and New England: Historic Photographs and Guide

In this, their second in a series of three photographic guidebooks, Holzapfel and Cottle have provided us with another intimate look at early Mormon history.

As with their first book, Old Mormon Nauvoo, they again have used a format which incorporates over a hundred rich historic photographs with corresponding early written accounts from Topsfield, Massachusetts, the ancestral home of Joseph Smith Jr., to the Sharon, Vermont area through the Palmyra, New York and Harmony, Pennsylvania areas. There are also sections on New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine. Of particular interest are the accounts of Lucy Mack Smith's ancestors in and around Gilsum, New Hampshire and Emma Hale Smith's ancestors in and Around Wells, Vermont.
