Youth in Europe (Social Change in Western Europe)

The "Social Change in Western Europe" series developed from the need to provide a summary of current thinking from leading academic thinkers in major social and economic issues concerning the evolving policies of Western Europe in post-Maastricht era. To create an effective European Union governments and politicians throughout the region must work to provide satisfactory social, economic and political conditions for the populations of Europe, and each volume affords an opportunity to look at specific issues and their impact on individual countries. This volume analyzes the three models of youth that have emerged in the Europe of today: the Mediterranean model, where living at home and studying are prolonged; the Northern European model, where marriage and children are being postponed; and the British Model, characterized by a premature move into adult life with all its ensuing responsibilities.
