Book details
Summary
Description
This field guidebook completes the loop of highways in Ontario from Wawa, south to the Soo (Sault Ste. Marie), to the east Thessalon, then north to Chapleau, and back west to Wawa. Like the other books in the series, it is in full color and concentrates on selected accessible bedrock outcrops. There is also an additional book from Thessalon to Sudbury along Trans-Canada 17.The first two dozen pages give you the geologic background needed to understand the geology of the area. It includes an introduction on how to use the book and relevant definitions. There are also color depictions and explanations of things like faults, stratigraphic column, time chart, how to read a geologic map, and more. All sites are visible on both pages if you're open to it, so there's no jumping around. The page on the left will have detailed geologic information and a local geologic map. The right page contains photos with key observations marked. I continue using GPS instead of directions in this book so you can start from anywhere you like. Just punch the GPS coordinates into your smart phone or vehicle GPS.There are 16 stops. 12 color diagrams. 60 color photos. 21 color maps.
We would LOVE it if you could help us and other readers by reviewing the book
