Description

Beth Abdella obtained a B.A. in Chemistry at St. Olaf College and a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry at the University of Minnesota. She joined the faculty at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1986. Beth has taught every level-one chemistry course, along with upper-level Biochemistry 1 and 2. Additionally, she regularly teaches in the integrated chemistry-biology three-course sequence offered to first-year college students and she participates in the Biomolecular Science Program. Beth makes her home in Northfield with husband Blake and Rupert the rescue dog. Their grown children reside in Northfield, Minneapolis, and Evanston, IL.
Gary Miessler obtained a B.Chem. at Tulsa University, completed a tour of duty in the U.S. Army, and earned a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota before joining the Chemistry faculty at St. Olaf in 1978. At St. Olaf, he taught general, inorganic, organometallic, and physical chemistry, supervised undergraduate research, and coauthored textbooks on inorganic and organometallic chemistry. Now retired from teaching, he resides with his family close to Northfield.
