Description

Product Description
Have you ever wondered what the church would look like if Christians began to take the words of Jesus seriously--the words some Bibles print in red? What if Jesus actually meant for us to do the things he said? What if those who ""believe in Jesus"" really did value the things he valued? Would the church look different? Would your neighborhood stay the same? In Think Red, Larry Stoess takes a close look at the values, the vision, and the mission of Jesus, and then holds up a mirror for us to see if our communities look anything like Jesus. If we dare look in the mirror we may be inspired to leave behind our obsession with consumer-based religion and follow the way of Jesus. Those who do will be set free to imagine creative and whimsical expressions of community.
Review
"I was privileged to be with Larry and his crew when the Table Cafe opened, witnessing firsthand the hope and light it brings to the Portland community in Louisville. Larry has been 'thinking red' for years. He lived this book long before it became a print volume. Think Red is not a command by someone who is angry. It is an invitation to the richer, fuller, abundant life that Jesus offers."
--Reggie McNeal, author of Kingdom Come
"My friend Larry Stoess issues a bold challenge to us all. Think Red is a resource that will help the church apply the principles I've written about in my manifesto. I pray the whole church is brave enough to read this."
--John M. Perkins, author of He Calls Me Friend
"In this book, Larry Stoess casts a vision for a Christian faith that looks like Jesus, acts like Jesus, loves like Jesus. He invites us to 'think red, ' referring to the Bibles that highlight Jesus' words in red font. Basically, Stoess is daring us all to live as if Jesus meant the stuff he said. This book is an altar call, commissioning us to live out a better version of our faith . . . It is a call for Christianity to be 'born again.'"
--Shane Claiborne, cofounder of Red Letter Christians
"Think Red is just that--thinking and exploring the true meaning of Christ's words, not just for personal reflection but rather communal empowerment and transformation. Larry Stoess says it best: together 'we're gonna do something.'"
--Angel Hamilton, The Bluegrass Mom blog
