About the Author
Joseph P. Winnick, EdD, passed away in 2019. He was a distinguished service professor in the department of kinesiology, sport studies, and physical education at State University of New York at Brockport. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Temple University. For more than 50 years, Winnick taught undergraduate and graduate courses in adapted physical education at Brockport in addition to developing and coordinating programs for adapted physical education. He also directed nationwide research projects related to the physical fitness of people with disabilities and was involved in the public
