Description

This book contains photos and related companion stories concerning the 94 "Dickens scenes" seen on the streets of Cambridge, Ohio, each November and December as part of the annual Dickens Victorian Village displays and events held there. The scenes, featuring life-size outdoor mannequins, portray aspects of life in the times of Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria. The single-page story for each scene may be an imagined conversation or scenario related to the scene, or actual historical descriptions and background in narrative form. Though this book is a helpful companion to a visit to the Dickens Victorian Village scenes in Cambridge, it also stands well on its own as an easy-reading introduction to life in Victorian England more than a century ago.
