Eye-opening! Seneca, particularly through his consolations, brings solace to his closest friends and family, more than one of whom seem to be suffering from depression. His therapeutic writings are a precursor to what we know call Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Indeed, he could be called the world's first Psychoanalyst. A must read!
Well organized. Chapter format. Concise.
Not a "dislike," per se, but it helps to know something about the history of Ancient Rome, its rulers and have some rudimentary background in philosophy. But these are not requirements. Read it and be enlightened!
