Defying Gravity

Defying Gravity creates, in loving detail, life in small town northern Indiana of the 1950s. The hero, an exuberant thirteen-year-old, has worries about The Bomb--but likes to blow things up with his chemistry set. Except for the physical adversities he must contend with, his horizons are rapidly expanding. Then, out of the blue, a sinister plot comes to light. His day-to-day life is turned upside down. The kids' games, the mischief in the alley, suddenly hold no meaning. Everything has changed and, for better or worse, there's no going back.
