Threads of the Tapestry

Capturing rural life in West Tennessee from the Civil War era to the years of Vietnam, Threads of the Tapestry is a saga of survival connecting the lives of five generations. The novel depicts five family members, beginning with Molly, a courageous woman and do-or-die spirit who must hold together her family and plantation as the Union soldiers attack, and the story ends with her great-great-granddaughter Laura, an old-fashioned woman surrounded by feminism. Other characters include Martha, Molly's daughter, who suffers injustice, loss and death; Rachel, who chooses a simple farm life as Tennessee becomes industrialized; and fun-loving Harris, who finds himself surrounded by immorality and inhumanity in the Great Depression and who lives to see his daughter Laura survive a ruthless marriage.
