these four introductory readers feature senseless stories in both English and a decently, if literally translated, Latin American spanish. In an obvious effort to reinforce language acquisition, the texts are repetitive. However, the repeated phrases lack any sense of forward momentum or story, resulting in narratives that are disjointed and confusing. The cartoon illustrations are amateurish and unappealish and English vocabulary would do better with wordbooks like Tomie dePaola's Marcos Counts and Marcos Colors which have minimal story but a clear thrust.
