Art and music from around the world (Mosaics)

Mosaics series explores the traditions and contributions of diverse cultures from around the world. It enables students to learn more about their own cultural backgrounds, increasing their sense of pride and self-worth. It also exposes them to cultures outside their personal experiences, giving them an appreciation for people of different heritages. When students understand how they and others fit into the human mosaic, they are better able to participate fully in a democratic society. The Mosaics series is intended for students in grades four and above. It consists of seven student books and their accompanying teacher guides. The contents of each book are thematically linked. The seven topics are folktales, leaders, sports, celebrations, everyday life, art and music, and food. Fine art and photographs enhance each book.
