1. This is a piano method designed to be used by piano teachers and their students in a one-on-one lesson setting. This is a preschool piano program (not a book of preschool music) that is designed to build a strong foundation for all future musical knowledge.
2. This book does not include familiar folk tunes or nursery rhyme music. Instead, WunderKeys helps your preschool-age students to develop important pre-reading skills and keyboard awareness.
3. Because portions of the book contain teacher-student duets designed to accompany student parts on black key groups, those teaching from the book should possess intermediate piano playing abilities.
4. This program is intended for students ages 3-5. Many 5-year-olds will be ready to instead begin in WunderKeys Primer Book 1 (learning to read on staff).

Book 1 encourages exploration of the piano in ways that are accessible and appropriate for this age group. All lessons are geared toward having young children understand everything they will need to know before learning to read notated music. Students will learn symbol-to-sound recognition, practice finger independence, and coordination, improve aural awareness, play long sounds and short sounds on black keys, play high sounds and low sounds on black keys, play sounds moving higher and lower, and learn math skills to assist musical understanding.
