About the Author
Stellina Jolly is Senior Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Legal Studies, South Asian University (SAU), India, an international organisation established by the regional group of the South Asian nations (SAARC). She is Visiting Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Emerging Countries in Private International Law at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, a Fulbright Scholar with the University of San Francisco, USA, and a recipient of the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) research in international environmental law and conflict of laws. Stellina is also Visiting Professor at the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), and the National Law University, Delhi, India. She is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law and part of the Network of Environmental Champions, Asian Development Bank. Her books and writings include Private International Law: South Asian States' Practice (2017); Climate Refugees in South Asia: Protection Under International Legal Standards and State Practices in South Asia (2019); Implementing the SDG-13 through the Adoption of Hybrid Law: Addressing Climate-Induced Displacement (2020); and 'Of Ebbs and Flows: Understanding the Legal Consequences of Granting Personhood to Natural Entities in India' (Transnational Environmental Law Journal, 2021).
Stellina has undertaken projects and consultancies with various organisations, including the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, European Union, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and more. She has collaborated on many research programmes with the Special Centre for Disaster Research at Jawaharlal Nehru University in India. She was awarded an educational grant on Civil Society Law from the International Centre for Not for Profit Law (ICNL) and USAID. She is a resource person for the Ministry of Law, Research Project on Judicial Reforms, and served as a subject expert on international environmental law for India's government program on developing electronic lecture database resources.
Saloni Khanderia is Alexander von Humboldt Fellow (Experienced Researcher) at the Chair for Civil Law, International Private Law and Comparative Law, Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, Germany. She is also Professor (full-time) at the Jindal Global Law School, OP Jindal Global University, Sonipat, India. In addition, she serves as Visiting Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Johannesburg, South Africa, where she teaches modules on Indian private international law.
Saloni was the recipient of a Global Excellence and Stature Fellowship, and was consequently employed as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, where she was involved with International Commercial Law, the National Research Foundation (NRF) Innovation Fellowship (South Africa) and the UNIDROIT research scholarship. Saloni also received the Award for Research Excellence from the OP Jindal Global University in 2018 and 2020, and was recognised as 'an Academic changing the World of the Jindal Global Law School' in March 2019.
Saloni is widely published and cited on Indian private international law. Her work focusses on investigating whether the practice of its judiciary is compatible with global trends on the subject. She will be the National Rapporteur for two of the Reports of the Académie Internationale de Droit Comparé (International Academy of Comparative Law), on 'New Specialised Commercial Courts and
Their Role in Cross-Border Litigation' and 'The Effectiveness of International Legal Harmonization through Soft Law', where she will examine the principles of Indian private international law in these areas.
Anselmo Reyes is Guest Professor at the Law Faculty of Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan and an International Judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court.
Paul Beaumont FRSE is Professor of Private International Law at the University of Stirling.
