The Runner

Young Bernadine Powers returns home from vigorous play in the park one summer day and senses something is wrong, but she can't imagine what. Her parents look the same, but they don't act the same. Once strong believers in exercise and healthy eating, they're now giving the opposite advice. Are her parents sick? Is it the hot weather? Why has everything in her life become so confusing and strange? Something is indeed wrong, and Bernie must discover what it is. To do so requires visiting dangerous places and learning from shadows and haunting visitors about what she must do to save her family and herself. The fate of two worlds hangs in the balance.
