Approximately 1.3 million adults in the United States identify as transgender. Some estimates put that number even higher- closer to 2 million. Around 300,000 children in the United States ages 13-17 identify as transgender. The trajectory is evident; there will be more transgender folks in the future-not less. Having said that, let's face it, most people do not know much about the transgender community, and how are you supposed to learn without asking deeply offensive questions?
