Description

Excerpt from The Secret History of the Fenian Conspiracy, Vol. 2: Its Origin, Objects,& RamificationsConscious that the scattered elements of a grand organisation were in the land, and that by drawing these elements together good work could be done, it was suggested to Mr o'mahony, by Michael Scanlan 1nd others, that a convention of Fenian Centres and Delegates Should meet in some city of the Union, and devise measures for the further extension of the Brotherhood. For some unexplained reason, Mr o'ma hony opposed the plan but, finally he was overruled, or at least he was persuaded to call it. The Convention met in this city in November 1863; its action 15 now historical. From it sprang the giant organisation which has, latterly, fixed the attention of half the world.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
