About the Author
Dr. Lisa Chism is clinical director of the Center for Breast Health, Oakland Macomb OBGYN and Associates in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She has been a registered nurse for over 30 years and a certified nurse practitioner for 26 years. Dr. Chism is also a Certified Menopause Practitioner through the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and a certified sexuality counselor. Dr. Chism is also adjunct Volunteer Faculty, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, Tennessee, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Chism completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in December, 2007 at Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan. Her interests breast, menopause, and sexual health. Dr. Chism’s middle-range nursing theory entitled “Chism’s Middle-Range Spiritual Empathy Theory” is referenced nationally and internationally. She has presented many poster and podium presentations regarding the DNP degree, menopause and sexual health locally and nationally, as well as guest lectured at various universities. In June, 2011, Dr. Chism was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She was also selected as Menopause Practitioner of the Year by the North American Menopause Society, September, 2011. She resides in Woodhaven, Michigan with her husband Bruce, daughter Isabel, their poodle, Lucy, and Devon Rex Tiffany.
