JESUS, MY CONSOLATION: A Reflective Devotional for Older Adults

This volume presents "living psalms" from Richard Beckmen's life experience, and is intended to assist older adults in opening their hearts and lives to God. Like the psalms of the Bible, these reflections speak prayerfully to God about the deepest sorrows, joys, fears, and hopes of older adults who have been promised to receive consolation and affirmation from God. This book is an attempt to encourage older readers in writing their own psalms reflecting their own circumstances, needs, and life story. Indeed, God comes to us in all kinds of places and times, such as the extremely dark and desolate time after Jesus' crucifixion, recorded in Luke 24, as pictured on the front cover of the book. The Emmaus Road story is a reminder that Christ journeys with us everywhere we go, whether we remember or recognize Him or not, and continues to reveal Himself to us in the Word, in the Supper, and in the consolation of the brethren.
