Black-Eyed Peas and Cornbread

The confrontation of good and evil in Blackeyed Peas and Cornbread is like good Blues music. It also takes a sneak peek into the lives of blacks in a small North Carolina community during the early 1900's to the 1950's. Images of people in the east Asheville area called Eastend come alive in Blackeyed Peas and Cornbread. The story goes back and reaches in to pull out the people and their lives and times. It goes from Greenville, South Carolina, to the mountains of North Carolina, to the lights of New York City and back again. It takes Mae Mae and her family through the horrors and rewards of life, as they all learn the difficult lesson of forgiveness.
