Haskell is Professor of French Studies and Interdisciplinary Humanities at Scripps College where he is also Director of the Clark Humanities Museum. He received his Ph.D. in French Literature from the University of California, Irvine. He also studied Art History and Architecture in the graduate program at UCI and at the École du Louvre in Paris. Le Nôtre's Gardens, accompanied an exhibition he curated at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California.
