Rare, early Japanese animation guide book. Large format (8" x 11.5") and well illustrated in color, anime expert, Helen McCarthy, wrote the text describing the prominent anime of the day, including Akira, Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro, Robot Carnival and many others. Written as a program guide to the "Celebration of Japanese Animation" at the Institute of Contemporary Arts of London in 1992. McCarthy went on to write more books about anime and manga. The book contains plot synopses, color stills and a lexicon of terms. A scarce and fascinating look at the early days of the field.
