Operation Supergoose

William Hart satirizes the "war on terror" in his comic novel Operation Supergoose. When terrorists burn down Plunderland's national phallic symbol, superhero Lieutenant Ernest Candide is deployed to the Middle East. This patriot yearns to defend his beloved homeland, lifestyle and fiancée, yet fails in his mission to decapitate the master perp. Instead he seduces or is seduced by double agent Delilah Jihad. He also discovers the dark agenda driving the war. Revealing this to army debriefers earns him treason charges, torture in Guantanamo and trial for his life. Such low blows encourage Candide to think for himself-and a rebel is born! Yanking the lieutenant's chain are President Buzz Twofer II and his merry band of puppeteers: VP Chain Dickey, Defense Secretary Clayton Minefield, and National Security Advisor Parson Rupert Weed. When Candide defies them, it's his head they want.
