Lincoln County Crucible (Valediction for Revenge ; 3)

Lincoln County Crucible is the third in the Valediction For Revenge series about Jethro Spring, a man born of an Indian mother and a mountain man father, one who passes through red and white worlds without feeling at ease in either. Lincoln County Crucible is set amid the bloody Lincoln County War in southeastern New Mexico, taking place after the terrible gun battle where Alexander McSween and many of his partisans died. lincoln County Crucible opens with the Sante Fe Ring in near-total control of southeastern New Mexico. Young Jethro is undecided about remaining or riding into the sunset. His head tells him a man with a price on his own head should drift on. But what of the widowed Susan McSween? Or of his friend, Billy the Kid? Or the starving Mescalero Apaches? Or the poor Anglo farmers and Mexican peons strangling from "the ring's" bloody yoke?
