Contracting Law

Contracting Law enriches the study of contract law with engaging texts, clear explanations of legal doctrine, and a unique student workbook. The textbook identifies issues of race, class, gender, sexuality, and disability in cases that students with a wide range of backgrounds and political commitments have found engaging and accessible. Kastely, Post and Hom have organized it doctrinally, retaining many "traditional" cases, yet they have enriched the text with both contemporary cases and materials such as news reports, poems, historical accounts, and short stories. The second edition of Contracting Law retains the book's clear, student-friendly style and engaging interdisciplinary material, but in a shorter form. Some material has been omitted, recent cases have been added, and some of the doctrinal commentary updated, making the new edition even better suited to a four-, five-, or six-credit course. The second edition of the Student Workbook, an innovative teaching tool, continues to provide exercises that enable students to use new skills and gauge their individual progress. Case briefing exercises, fact analysis charts, drafting exercises, and a variety of other analytical exercises help students develop skills that are transferrable not only to other areas of law but also to practice settings. A teacher's manual is also available.
