British Naval Documents, 1204-1960 (Publications of the Navy Records Society)

This volume, published to mark the Navy Records Society's centenary in 1993, aims to gather the most essential documents bearing on British naval history from the 13th century to the 20th century. They cover campaigns, battles and naval operations of all kinds, as well as the adminstration of the Navy, its ships and weapons, its officers and men. The collection is intended to serve as a source of basic reference for eveyone who values history at first hand. The documents contain introductions setting them in context, written by a team of experts in their respective periods and subjects. The volume is designed to provide a basic handbook to British naval history over the past eight centuries.
