Real-World Teen Services
Book details
Summary
Description
The proposed work will offer MLS students and library practitioners an overview of the most common issues in teen services that are often so ingrained in traditional notions of service they are often difficult to identify. The work will offer strategies for articulating what teen services librarians understand on an instinctive level about service methods, technique and rationale.Backed up by available research, this work offers field-tested suggestions from experienced practitioners for identifying and overcoming subtle barriers to teen service in libraries; realistic strategies to help shift a given library’s culture to one that embraces teens and teen services; and sensible tactics to stave off the isolation that often comes from being the only teen serving librarian in an organization – the Lone Wolf.
