Math and Science for Young Children

This text focuses on the integration of mathematics and science with each other and with the other content areas for children birth through age eight. It is based on theories of Child Development and learning and is compatible with the guidelines and standards of the major national professional organizations (i.e. NAEYC, NCTM, NSTA, & AAAS). Units are arranged in a developmental sequence from preschool through primary and include appropriate assessment instructional, and evaluation strategies. Developmentally appropriate assessment is promoted through observation, recording of anecdotal records and checklists, video and audiotapes, performance evaluations and portfolios.
