The Gospel of St. Luke (Read and Pray Series, No. 2)

The Herald Biblical Booklets series, which offers popular studies on biblical books and themes, is now accompanied by a tandem series which will further meet the needs of the people of God by exploring in a thoroughgoing way the relationship of the Bible to daily life and to prayer. This new series, entitled "Read and Pray," features "Gospel of St. Luke" as No. 2 in the sequence. Each page in a "Read and Pray" booklet contains a comment, reflection, and prayer on a brief passage of Scripture. In the "comment," the author, an expert in Scripture, distills the best of contemporary scholarship; in the "reflection," he prods the reader into pondering the relationship of the Scripture to daily life; in the "prayer," he invites the reader to respond to God's message. Each book envisions a dynamic sequence of: 1) pray for the Spirit's guidance; 2) read the Scripture passage assigned; 3) read the comment and reflection; 4) reflect on your own; 5) read the prayer; 6) pray on your own. This new series should be of benefit to daily and Sunday homilists, shared prayer groups, Bible study groups, and to all those who seek in Scripture spirit and life.
