The ethics of teaching (Thinking about education series)

By presenting realistic case studies that display ethical issues and ways of ethical thinking and decision making, the authors provide materials for considering the types of ethical dilemmas teachers and administrators face during their careers. They encourage educators to think deeply about such ideas as punishment, intellectual freedom and equality in the treatment of students. Exploring the ideas of eminent theorists, the authors evaluate two major types of ethical theories: the consequentialist - reviewing the action's consequences to determine whether the action is moral or immoral; and the nonconsequentialist - emphasizing the sense of duty, obligation and the rpinciple used in reaching a decision.
