If you are looking for a book, as I was, that turns each of the Gospels into short-story-like, non-fiction "stories" based on Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, this is NOT the book for you. But if you're inclined to read a scholarly text applying narrative theory to each Gospel, this is a book for you.
I'm not much for applying a strain of literary theory to sacred texts. As a text, this is sufficiently logical for classroom engagement. It's clarity, to me, depends largely on the reading level of the reader.
As I indicated, I'm not into books/authors who appropriate sacred texts and submit them to narrative theory. inevitably, in my opinion, applying theories in this way distorts the meaning of the text or steers the focus away from the message and instead focuses on method.
