Federal Income Taxation

Schmalbeck and Zelenak, both affiliated with Duke University, present material divided into a core section of 12 chapters which can be covered in a one-semester introductory income tax course, and more specialized chapters offering deeper examinations of selected topics, offering students more exposure to tax law as it is encountered by lawyers and policy makers. In addition to case studies, some of these chapters contain exercise sets designed to develop students' ability to read and apply complex statutory provisions, some examine policy issues, some focus on the interpretation of ambiguous statutes.
