"Understanding Architecture" takes an implicit but critical stance against architecture-as-spectacle: Gehry, Libeskind, Hadid, et al are nowhere to be found in its pages. Instead, the authors present abundant examples of the deeper concerns of architecture, the lenses that shape human experience of place and environment.
