An atlas and text of dermatology to improve the diagnostic abilities of doctors and students, with regard to patients with white skin and patients with deeply pigmented or black skin. Chapter 1 highlights particular difficulties in recognizing skin diseases in black skin, and discusses mechanisms of normal and altered skin pigmentation. Skin disorders are arranged partly according to which level of the skin is predominantly involved, and there are separate chapters on dermatological aspects of internal medicine, disorders of melanocytes, skin tumors, and infectious diseases, including Kaposi's sarcoma.
