This is the new, four-volume, 79-chapter edition of a text first published 25 years ago as a comprehensive guide to all recognized dermatological diseases. Basic sciences are not the focus, though the new edition includes a cohesive account of the anatomy and physiology of the skin in the early chapters, with little or no overlap with the scientific introductions to the various clinical chapters. New chapters include coverage of comparative dermatology, the meaning and mystery of dermatological language, and the development of dermatology as a clinical science. Clinical chapters have been expanded, revised, and rewritten as necessary, particularly in areas such as genetics and prenatal diagnosis.
