The Asset

As the CIA's new Station Chief in Venezuela, Pete Maddox was a rising star.  In a sea of straight-laced, Langley bureaucrats, Maddox's paramilitary and black ops training has brought him success and attention within 'the company'. But not with everyone... Johan Brull, the brutal head of the Venezuela Internal Secret Police, has made no secret of his disdain for the CIA's latest chief and has clashed with Maddox at every opportunity, but always falling just short of starting an incident with the Americans. Sonia Collins is a beautiful Venezuelan Real Estate Broker who Maddox has recruited as an asset to locate and manage his network of safe houses. However Maddox complicates things when he breaks CIA protocol and falls in love with his asset. A discovery deep in the Amazon jungles of a Libyan Terrorist Training camp, as well as, a dissident group fomenting a coup against Hugo Chavez, provides Maddox the opportunity to take care of two problems at once. But when the coup fails, it gives the Secret Police and Johan Brull a long awaited opportunity at payback by hunting down Maddox's human assets including Sonia Collins. Maddox risks his life and career by disobeying a direct order to stand down and fall back. He delves into the post-coup anarchistic streets of Caracas in a race to find the woman he loves before the Secret Police does. With time running out, he seeks help from a retired SAS and MI5 Brit and strikes an unlikely alliance with a crime kingpin in the infamous hilltop slums of Caracas. Maddox will stop at nothing to save The Asset, but will it be enough?
